While Marahau Sea Kayaks Ltd. will take every care and precaution possible, we accept no responsibility for any loss or damage to customer’s personal effects.

We reserve the right to cancel or alter the services and products described on our websites or in other promotional literature without prior notice. Marahau Sea Kayaks Ltd. reserves the right to alter trip times and prices during the season.

refund policy

We understand that travel plans vary due to illness, accident and people simply changing their minds. In turn, we ask our clients to understand that we may have turned away a number of keen people for those reserved places. We will also have incurred expense in processing the enquiry and bookings. Finally, we have learned to respect the sea and the New Zealand weather, and not to take unnecessary risks.

If Marahau Sea Kayaks Ltd. cancels a trip due to bad weather we will give a full refund.

If a customer cancels within 48 hours of the day of departure a 50% cancellation fee will be incurred. No refund will be provided if a cancellation is made within 24 hours of departure or for any no-show.

All other cancellations made more than 48 hours before departure incur a 10% administration fee along with all relevant accommodation fees.

To confirm your reservation, full payment or voucher detail must be received in advance of departure. Please note that payment from credit cards will be processed on booking.

travel insurance

We advise all clients to consider arranging appropriate travel insurance that covers Adventure Tourism. Under all circumstances, the client is solely responsible for their personal equipment.

At Marahau Sea Kayaks we recognise our responsibility to manage the health and safety of staff, participants and visitors to our workplace. We will take all practical steps to ensure the health and safety of our staff, participants and visitors. We will ensure that everyone complies with the requirements of our Safety Management Systems and we will continually improve our health and safety management.

The Operations Manager at Marahau Sea Kayaks is in charge of signing off all of the policies associated with our Safety Management System and compliance on a daily basis. However, the Managing Director has ultimate accountability for health and safety at Marahau Sea Kayaks.

at marahau sea kayaks we ensure that our guides:

Have nationally/internationally recognised sea kayak qualifications: Junior Guides – Sea Kayak Leader or equivalent experience; Senior Guides – Sea Kayak 1 or equivalent experience and Operations Manager/Supervisor – Sea Kayak 1 or equivalent experience.  They have undergone an in-house training pathway that ensures they are competent for the role they are in and have current first aid certificates.

MSK achieved Safety Audit Standard for Adventure Activities: 2013 certification in November 2014.

The Operations Manager/Supervisor will:

Comply with relevant Health and Safety legislation
Identify and assess all hazards in the workplace
Control all significant hazards
Be proactive in controlling new hazards
Provide Health and Safety training and supervision
Give staff the opportunity to elect Health and Safety representatives and be involved in the hazard management process
Support injured staff to return to work safely as early as possible
Regularly review Health and Safety policies and goals
Actively support employee consultation and participation in the promotion of safe working practices
Support continuous improvements in Health and Safety and ensure management has a clear understanding of Health and Safety management issues to their roles.
